The Disco Hustle

The Hustle, a derivative of the Swing, is a popular dance made famous by John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Hustle is danced to the contemporary pop dance music of the last 20 years. It is a fast, smooth dance, with the lady spinning almost constantly, while her partner draws her close and sends her away. The Hustle is a great dance to develop rhythm, animation and the ability to lead and follow turns. Hustle dancers exude energy, excitement and fun.

During the seventies, there were many popular variations of the Hustle, including the "Tango Hustle", the "Latin Hustle" and the "Street Hustle". Today the "Street Hustle" has become the standard for Hustle. There are two popular tempos used to perform the same Hustle patterns - the "three count " (used by advanced dancers) and the "four count", a fun and easy version recommended to newcomers.

We cover fifteen patterns in this video and have divided them into three sections of five patterns each. We start in Section One with a review of the basics and build a strong foundation which makes it easier for you to learn the more advanced sections Two and Three.
